Fr. McGivneyWho are the Knights? The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal order of Catholic men with knightly ideals of spirituality and service to the Church, country, and fellowmen. Founded by Father Michael J. McGiveny, curate at St. Mary's parish in New haven, Connecticut the Knights of Columbus was chartered on March 29, 1882, in the State of Connecticut. As the priest explained to a small group of men in the basement of St. Mary’s Church in October 1881, his calling them together was manifold: to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement; promote closer ties of fraternity among them; and to set up an elementary system of insurance so that the widows and children of members in the group who might die would not find themselves in dire financial straits.

Our Council, No. 3368 is over 50 years old! We are called the Assumption Council in honor of the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother Mary. Our council has approximately 120 members most of which are parishioners of St. Rose of Lima. We meet twice a month first and third Thursdays of the month. We are one of over 10,000 councils nationwide with members who have dedicated themselves to the ideals of Columbianism: Charity, Unity,Fraternity, and Patriotism!
